The Regional Association of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL) is a non-profit organization founded as a vehicle for cooperation and mutual assistance among companies in the sector. Its primary purpose is to contribute actively to integration, the exchange of knowledge among its members, and the development and implementation of best practices and solutions that ensure continuous improvement in the operational, environmental, social and economic performance of the sector, thus promoting the sustainable energy development in the region.

It was founded in 1965 by eight national companies: ANCAP, ECOPETROL, ENAP, PDVSA, PETROBRAS, PETROPERÚ, YPF AND YPFB.

Its membership currently represents a high percentage of the upstream and downstream activities in Latin America and the Caribbean and includes national and international operating companies, providers of technology, goods and services for the value chain, and national and international sector institutions.
